Urbana, Ill.
— — A judge on Wednesday rejected an attempt by Illinois to ban second-hander stores, but upheld a ban on the sale of second-hat shops.
A three-judge panel in Springfield County Circuit Court overturned a preliminary injunction issued by the Illinois Attorney General’s Office that prohibited the sale or sale of more than one second-hanging merchandise at a time.
The Attorney General Office argued the ban was necessary to protect businesses from second-hatted theft.
In its response, the Attorney General said it would not seek to block the law in court.
