More than a quarter of Australians will be infected by the coronivirus, with more than 5,000 Australians in the hospital and more than 1,000 people being admitted to the hospital with severe respiratory conditions.
In a statement, Health Minister Sussan Ley said Australia’s national health strategy was being developed and she was working with key partners to improve public health.
“I have been in contact with the Minister of Health and will be meeting with her as part of the national health plan to ensure we are prepared for the worst-case scenario, she said.”
As part of that, we will be looking at how we can ensure we have the best capacity to respond to the coronovirus in the short and medium term.
“Ms Ley said the plan would focus on the following:The need for a national plan to respond and contain the coronas in the shortest possible timeframe; The need to reduce the number of new infections; The needs for a plan to protect against the spread of the coronaves and how to protect Australia from the spread;and how to make it easier for people to access support and information.
Dr David Schuster, chief executive of the Australian Medical Association, said while it was too early to assess how widespread the coronave outbreak was, it was still alarming that there were so many Australians being treated for the coronaval disease.”
