By Simon Hradecky and Rebecca Guay October 18, 2019 06:38:51It’s been over a year since Nintendo revealed the WiiU, and the company has confirmed that two more games will be released in 2018, the sequel to the Wii-exclusive Splatoon and the first entry in the Splatoon 2 franchise.
Both of these titles are on the Wii.
Nintendo revealed that Splatoon was originally planned to be released on the Nintendo 3DS, but the game was pulled because the handheld was selling well.
The team at Ubisoft Montreal has since announced a new Wii U port of Splatoon, and it will be launching in 2018.
The Wii U is also getting another game in 2018 that’s not expected to be on the console itself: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
This title is coming to the Nintendo Switch on September 27th, 2018, and will launch on the system on November 12th, 2020.
Nintendo has also confirmed that a new Zelda title is in the works.
Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be releasing on the Switch in 2018 on both the Wii and Nintendo 3D consoles.
